Notes: These are excellent beginner fish due to
their various colours, ease of breeding and relatively low maintenance
care requirements. Guppies should be kept at a ratio of around three
females per male as the males tend to harrass the females, causing undue
stress. Unlike most fish, guppies give birth to live young after a
gestation period of around 30 - 40 days. The fry should be provided with
plenty of cover from the adults due to
cannibalisation.
