Notes: The peacock spiny eel is not a true eel. It
is the smallest of the spiny eels and commonly seen in the aquarium
trade. Peacock spiny eels are shy and prefer dimly lit tanks which are
heavily planted with plenty of hiding places. This can also help
eliminate some of their elusiveness and provoke them to remain unhidden
during the day. The substrate should be fine, ideally sand, as they like
to burrow. With time peacock spiny eels can be trained to eat from their
owner's hand. Most specimens will refuse flakes and even frozen foods so
a constant supply of live food is a must.
